About Us
An award-winning wine-making establishment, attention to
customer service, and a passion for people and wine keep Lindsay Tate of
Rusty Cellars at the top of this industry.
Eight years ago she
teamed up with her Dad Russ in this Sudbury owned and operated
business. Rusty Cellars is conveniently located at 2037 Long Lake Road
behind Shoppers Drug Mart in the South end.
The facility
supplies the equipment and products people need to make their own wine
on premise . The experience is offered in a clean, modern facility that
utilizes a specialized fltered water system, explained Tate. All wine is
sold by the batch of 30 bottles. Their main wine supplier is Cellar
Craft International.
In 2009 Cellar Craft received 179 awards
at the annual Wine Maker International Amateur Wine Competition held in
the U.S, against 5,000 entries from eight countries, Tate herself
competed at this competition.
“Last year I won gold and two
bronze medals,” she explained. She won the gold medal for her Rosso
Fortissmo, a blend of various red Italian varietals. Both her Washington State Cabernet Sauvignon and Austrian Gruner Veltliner took bronze medals.
Tate
said the popularity of wine is at an all time high in North America.
“Young people are skipping spirits and beer in favour of wine. We are a
successful wine- making facility because we stand behind our products,
we keep our knowledge current, and our repeat customers continue to
recommend us.”
