About Us

Established in 2008, Pioneer Spirit has provided quality beeswax candles throughout Ontario and beyond. In the summer of 2014, we became the third owners of Pioneer Spirit, a beeswax candle company originally from Priceville, Ontario. In the summer of 2018, we acquired Circa Candles, a beeswax candle company from Guelph, Ontario.

We are makers of timeless candles born from a love of honey bees, beeswax, antiquity, and all that is vintage.

We source all of our quality beeswax directly from experienced beekeepers within Ontario. The beeswax we purchase comes from various floral sources including: white and red clover, alfalfa, dandelion, buckwheat, wild blueberry, apple blossom, goldenrod, summer blossom, basswood, and other blooming meadow flowers such as shepherd's purse, thyme, meadow thistle, wild mallow, St. John's wort, cow parsnip, cornflower, sage, chicory, and motherwort. Each flower has a unique nectar, which the honey bees collect and convert to honey.

Every candle made by Pioneer Spirit, is carefully handcrafted in our studio in Sudbury, Ontario. We use the finest, triple filtered beeswax for the cleanest burn quality. Our beeswax candles are naturally scented by nature. All of our candles are hand poured, and many are hand finished using skilled techniques the pioneer chandlers used.
